Sensei Jean Chalamon Hanshi is the head of the Kokusai Butoku Kai, a life long martial artist, and a long time student of O'Sensei Richard Kim. In 2008 the members of the Kokusai Butoku Kai agreed that for is life long devotion to the arts, he would be promoted to the rank of Ku (9th) Dan. Sensei Chalamon gave a touching speech to all present honouring the memory of his Sensei.
